Looking forward, and a year in review...

Well my last post was an uber drunk posting, so I'm going to try to get this one started on the first drink. It's pepsi and cherry vodka, thanks to a friend of miss @Twi_Lin's. Its a new fave!

I am not a Vodka fan, but this shit is delish!
AAANNnnnyways, a shit-ton of stuff has happened to me this year.

In January, my husband deployed to Afghanistan for a seven month tour. Thankfully his job is "inside the wire", but it is in an area that is constantly rocketed. He made it out alive!

There's my sexy-ass man....

I graduated college this year! After 4 years of dilly dallying and not knowing what I wanted to do with my life, at 22 I figured it out! I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing,...5 years later. Cum Laude, thank you very much. ;)

I moved back to California after 7 years in Hawaii! I could have stayed there the rest of my life, I love it there. But moving back has been a wonderful change. I'm 2 hours away from where I was born and raised, and I don't have to deal with 4.5-6 hour plane rides anymore!! I've never lived in such a small town as the one I live in now, but it's such a nice change from the constant lines and battle for parking.

Yay Areaaaaa!
Upon returning from Afghanistan, we moved into our first house ever! We'd lived in apartments together, but never an actual house, with an actual back yard, and and actual two car garage. Did I mention central heat and air? FTMFW!!

A week after the big reunion,

Was our One Year Anniversary! We spent a weekend in San Francisco to celebrate!

We enjoyed the hell out of the summer.

Enjoyed wine tasting

It was 104 this day!
Enjoyed the outdoors,

The hubs sparkles in the sunlight!!!! He really
is my Edward. ;)

The vegetarian who loves to shoot, who
knew? NON-LIVING targets, peeps.

I called her Aragog, after Harry Potter. ;)
Then came the fall.... and the AMAZING THING THAT WAS FOOOOOORKS!!!

What can I say about FOOORKS that has not already been said? I freakin love you h00rs and I had the time of my life!  I sort of expressed it in my last post.... but I was really drunk. MIIIIGHT have dropped the F-bomb a few times. Anyways, the end of Sept/beginning of Oct FOOORKS trip was one of the best experiences of my life. I've never seen a place with such unique beauty... and remember I lived in HI for 7 years! Hiking The Olympic National Park was some of the most picturesque hiking I've ever done. The Hoh Rainforest, the two waterfall hikes, First Beach, Rialto Beach... all so beautiful. The best part? You h00rs!!!

The Mecca!!

Plus 8.5 Vampires....

How freakin cool!!

I totes wear this all the time.
After the FOOOORKS trip, our next big event was the newest member of our family. If you haven't already read this post and this post, you MUST. What happened in the world of Twitardia was, in my opinion, monumental. What you ladies did for me, and for a homeless dog named Bella is so special. She went from homeless, hopeless to having a loving forever family. Her Twitarded aunties have even sent her gifts!

Auntie @Twi_Lin sent her three sweaters!!!
She continues to love our walks and her rawhides! She's the sweetest most affectionate little girl. We love her so much and feel as if our family is complete with her! We thank you, ladies of Twitardia for helping give Bella Twitarded Hicks a home!

December 4th brought The Eclipse Party get together!!!

Edward in creamy Bluray! YESSS!
We had such a great time! @amandakmelby, @Jaymes805, @RenaBug1, @Twi_Lin, the hubs and I all had such a great time! I don't want to admit how many times I've watched the Bluray since I've gotten it. I bet it's not as bad as half of you. ;)

Then, came the holidays,

Christmas dinner....
Now here we are. New Years Eve. The hubs has to work tomorrow in the AM so we're not doing anything crazy. I had to cancel my plans due to the financial-rapage of Christmas, a now I'm home, watching my hubs play Dance Central on the Kinect that he got for Christmas. Fucking hilarious!! :)

Now, I am not going to make a resolution because I never stick to them. I want to make a promise to myself, a promise that I'm held accountable for....

So, my NewYears resolution is to take better care of myself physically. Namely working out. This, of course, will help me mentally. I've been doing Zumba every day for the past 4 days, and running Bella after. I want to do Zumba at least 3 days a week, and walk the dog at least 5 days a week. I don't want to go all over-zealous and make these promises that I cant keep, so that's why I'm going to try to keep to this.. and this only.

Happy New Year, h00rs, I know it's already 2011 for those of you on the East Coast, but to everybody else,  enjoy the countdown!!

Any resolutions or non-resolutions for you ladies?? :)

  1. Happy New Year!!! I am an east coaster so I get to say that already ;)

Thank you for the recap of your year, I am so thankful that your hubby came home safe from his tour and that you had many happy things happen to you all year. Here is to more fun in 2011!

Hugs to you and your family - human and furry :)

I resolve to be a better friend by calling more, writing more and visiting more (when I can of course). I usually resolve to not make resolutions but this year I have been asked by my counselor to make 2-3 this year, so that is #1.

  5. Happy New Year babe! Lovely to read up on your year - I'm so pleased for you that hubs made it safely back in one piece :-)

I've already made a start on my resolution - to cut out red wine. Not sure how long it's gonna last, but over the past week I've had none, and I can't begin to tell you how different I already feel!

Add to that a slightly healthier lifestyle (less stress, more me-time, healthier eating) and I hope to be a new woman by the time Ffooorrrkkksss2011 comes around (whenever that may be). Oh, that reminds me, thats another resolution: to make it to Ffooorrrkkksss2011! I've already started saving :-)

Hope 2011 brings you and yours all you hope for...

    CC x

  7. Thanks for sharing your recap with us. And good luck on working out. If you need virtual accountability partners we are here for you.

Jaymes805 and I are going to keep each other in line so we don't each gluten in 2011. I'm sure there are many others who need the push to workout. I'm going to star that the 100 pushups and 200 situps program on Monday.

    Good Luck!!!

  8. Aw love you woman!!! And love this post! Haha Tom sparkles?!?! I guess I didn't realize it because it was cloudy when we all went to Target. :) SO glad to have met and hung out with you this year. Thank you FOOOORKS and twitardia for bringing some awesome awesome peeps in to my life.

As for 2011 resolutions, you read some of them on twitter haha but the ACTUAL ones are to go gluten free for a while, take care of my self and work out! I miss being called "twiggy". It was my nickname growing up...for the life of me I couldn't gain weight at all until like 3 years ago and now I can't seem to lose it. Also to go see 100 Monkeys and go back to FOOOOORKS! Easy enough goals, right? :)

  11. Such a great post. Happy new year. I'm thinking one of my resolves should be to visit and comment on all the great blogs of all the awesome people I've met over the past year. I'm starting right here and now!!

I'm also a vegetarian and a bit of a work out freak, so if you ever need prodding, let me know. I'm gonna help Jaymes and miss tejota with their gluten free diets, too. Love all the support around here.
